JAMMU: For the purpose of strengthening water conservation and rural water scarcity, small check dams have been constructed in Village Marh, Tehsil Nagrota, District Jammu, under the guidance and inspiration of Dakshin Peethadhishwar Jagadguru Ramanandacharya Narendracharya Ji.
These check dams are being built by compactly arranging soil-filled gunny bags, ensuring that rainwater and flowing water can be effectively stored for future use.
This initiative will not only provide irrigation benefits to agricultural fields but will also help replenish groundwater levels. As a result, it is expected that the drinking water issues faced by the villagers will be significantly reduced. The overall aim of the project is to create a sustainable water management system that strengthens the rural ecosystem.
Pujya Jagadguru Ramanandacharya Ji has always been committed to social and humanitarian service. His universal messageââLive and let others liveââhas inspired countless individuals to follow the path of service. Under this spirit of compassion and commitment, a nationwide check dam construction campaign is being carried out from 7 December to 21 December 2025. The mission aims to enhance rural prosperity through effective water conservation.
All stages of the construction work, including soil filling, arranging gunny bags, and the inspection of pre- and post-construction activities, are being systematically monitored by the organisation. Villagers, sarpanches, and officials from the Agriculture Department have welcomed the initiative, calling it a progressive step toward rural development. Local farmers expressed hope that the newly built check dams will ensure adequate water availability for irrigation in all seasons.
According to Jagadguru Narendracharya Ji Maharaj, sustainable water conservation can only be achieved through community participation and the harmonious use of natural resources. This project continues to progress successfully on the same principles.
The check dam construction in Village Marh has been successfully completed with the community contribution of devotees associated with the Aarti Seva Kendra, Marh and Gundla, under the blessings of Jagadguru Narendracharya Ji Maharaj.
Several dignitaries graced the occasion with their presence, including Jagdish Raj, former Headmaster; Ramesh Kotwal, former BDO Officer; Balakram, social worker; and, Sarpanch of Marh.
On behalf of the organisation, Dilip Jadhav expressed heartfelt gratitude to the villagers, volunteers, and administrative officers for their cooperation. He also announced that, in the coming days, the check dam construction initiative will be expanded to many more regions.
