UDHAMPUR: Acting on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Saloni Rai, Municipal Council Udhampur conducted an anti-encroachment and anti-polythene drive in Udhampur town. The drive was supervised by Chief Executive Officer Rajinder Digra. During the operation, 15 rehris were seized and 30 kilograms of polythene were confiscated. Fines amounting to Rs 4 thousand were imposed on violators for non-compliance.
The CEO appealed to shopkeepers and business owners to voluntarily remove encroachments from public spaces. The campaign also focused on sensitising the public and traders about the environmental hazards posed by polythene and plastic waste.
