RAMBAN: A team of experts from the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), accompanied by functionaries from the District Administration Ramban, today conducted a comprehensive Post-Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA) in the affected areas of the district. ADC, Varunjeet Singh Charak, ACR, Shokat Hayat Mattoo and other officers accompanied the team.
During the visit, the NDMA team assessed the extent of damage and interacted with officers to gather detailed information regarding losses to infrastructure, housing, agriculture, livestock, community assets and public infrastructure. The primary objective of the PDNA exercise was to determine immediate requirements and support the formulation of a comprehensive rehabilitation and recovery plan for the affected population.
Earlier, Deputy Commissioner, Mohammad Alyas Khan directed the functionaries of stakeholder departments to submit factual reports on damages and losses to both public and private infrastructure, as well as loss of livelihood.
The ADC presented a detailed report on losses to lives, livestock, crops, houses, government property and community infrastructure, besides highlighting restoration efforts undertaken by the District Administration post heavy rains, which triggered flash floods, cloudbursts and landslides.
The district officers briefed the NDMA experts on the ground situation and the response measures already initiated. The team reviewed ongoing relief and restoration works and emphasized the need for close coordination among departments to ensure effective recovery and strengthened disaster preparedness.
The NDMA experts directed the departments to submit accurate and comprehensive damage details, stressing the importance of proper documentation of each loss. For infrastructure-related damages, officers were asked to provide precise measurements and the extent of affected areas.
The visiting team also underlined the need to develop resilient infrastructure to minimize future disaster risks. The District Administration assured full cooperation and timely submission of all required information to facilitate NDMAâs assessment and subsequent recovery planning.
