• Plantation is our duty and part of our Emaan; students must lead the way to protect environment: PSAJK President
  • Students take active role in SEWA PARV 2025, promoting awareness and sustainability

BUDGAM: The SEWA PARV 2025 Plantation Drive concluded today at IIS School, showcasing a remarkable commitment to environmental conservation and community engagement. Organized in collaboration with the Social Forestry Range Budgam, the event was graced by PSAJK State President, G.N. Var, as the Chief Guest, along with senior officials from the Social Forestry Department.

SEWA PARV Launched on 17 September 2025, the initiative united educators, students, officials and community leaders in a collective effort to promote environmental responsibility and nurture a greener, healthier future for generations to come.

Speaking on the occasion, G.N. Var emphasized the importance of plantation drives in line with faith and responsibility “Plantation is part of our Emaan. As human beings, it is our duty to protect and nurture the environment, for our survival depends upon it. We must make our students aware of environmental challenges and sensitize them about the benefits of plantation. Without such awareness, our future generations will face difficulties. Life itself revolves around the environment, and therefore, protecting it is not just a necessity, but an obligation,” he said.

Var also expressed gratitude to the Social Forestry Range Budgam for its remarkable efforts “The Social Forestry Department has taken this plantation drive to a large scale, organizing programs and awareness campaigns across different places in J&K. This has greatly contributed to spreading awareness in society. I am happy to see students actively participating and becoming ambassadors of environmental care”.

“Participating in the SEWA PARV 2025 plantation drive has been an amazing experience. We learned how important it is to protect our environment and how even small efforts, like planting a tree, can make a big difference for our planet. I feel proud to contribute to a greener future,” said a student.

On this occasion, Trade Union Council President, Abdul Majeed Parray, also shared his views, acknowledging the contribution of schools and the community. “We are thankful to the schools and the general public who have extended their support and participated wholeheartedly in this initiative. Such collective efforts ensure that awareness reaches every corner. We will continue our work day and night to make plantation drives successful, so that more people get involved, become sensitized and together we can protect our environment for future generations”.

“Events like SEWA PARV 2025 are crucial in educating young minds about environmental responsibility. It’s not just about planting trees, it’s about instilling values of care, awareness, and sustainable living. Seeing our students actively participate gives us hope for a cleaner and greener tomorrow,” said a teacher.

The officers of the Social Forestry Department highlighted that a series of plantation programs and awareness drives had been carried out across Budgam district under SEWA PARV 2025. These initiatives have helped strengthen environmental consciousness, particularly among students and youth.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks to the organizers and all participants for their active involvement in this important environmental mission.
