JAMMU: Synergetic Green Warriors Foundation (SGWF) organized a mega plantation drive under the theme "Adopt a Tree" at JDA Park, Muthi Camp. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from various members of the community, including key figures from the NGO and local residents.
The plantation drive was spearheaded by Dr. Sonia Verma, Director of SGWF, alongside Mrs. Radha Devi, President of the Women Wing, Devinder Pal (Retd. JKAS), President District Jammu, Sandeep Sharma, Treasurer, and Dr. Rakesh Verma, Board Member. A large number of volunteers and walkers from the local area also took part in the event, showcasing their commitment to environmental conservation.
Dr. Sonia Verma addressed the gathering, emphasizing the significance of the "Adopt a Tree" initiative. She highlighted the NGO's progress, stating that SGWF has successfully planted 1.80 lakh plants under her leadership and the tireless efforts of her team. Dr. Verma also outlined the ambitious target of planting an additional 25,000 plants this year under the "Ek Ped Maa ke Naam" initiative and another 25,000 plants under the "Adopt a Tree" campaign.
She encouraged the community to actively participate in these efforts, stressing that every tree planted is a step towards a greener and more sustainable future. Mrs. Radha Devi, President of the Women Wing, spoke about the critical role women play in environmental conservation. She urged the women present to take the lead in their households and communities by promoting tree planting and sustainable practices.
Mrs. Devi also discussed the importance of involving the younger generation in such initiatives to instill a sense of responsibility towards nature from an early age. Devinder Pal (Retd. JKAS), President District Jammu, expressed his appreciation for SGWF's ongoing efforts in enhancing the green cover of the region. He noted that such plantation drives not only improve the environment but also bring the community together.
Mr. Pal emphasized the need for continuous and collective efforts to combat the challenges posed by climate change. Sandeep Sharma, Treasurer of SGWF, shared his insights on the financial and logistical aspects of the NGO's initiatives. Mr. Sharma reiterated SGWF's commitment to its goals and assured that the NGO would continue to support and expand its green initiatives. Dr. Rakesh Verma, Board Member, focused on the scientific and environmental aspects of the plantation drive. He explained the benefits of planting medicinal, flowering, and shade-bearing plants, and how these contribute to the local ecosystem. Dr. Verma also discussed the significance of Rudraksh plants, which were distributed during the event, and their spiritual and environmental value.

In addition to this, Rudraksh plants were distributed among the volunteers and walkers, symbolizing the connection between nature and spirituality.
