SRINAGAR: Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Molvi Muhammad Umar Farooq, in a statement issued on social media platform X, said:“The Kishtwar cloudburst has claimed 65 precious lives, left over 100 injured and many still missing a heartbreaking tragedy and a test from the Almighty. Today’s Kathua cloudburst too has taken innocent lives.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and pray for Jannat for the departed and speedy recovery for the injured.Jammu & Kashmir lies in a fragile and ecologically sensitive Himalayan zone.
Cutting trees, road-building, unregulated construction and unchecked tourism disturb nature’s balance, turning rain into ruin. This is a serious wake-up call. Policymakers and planners must act with foresight, as protecting nature is protecting human life.”
