JAMMU: In a remarkable initiative aimed at promoting environmental conservation and awareness, Vishwa Yog Sansthan (World Yog Institute) has launched the "Clean Jammu Green Jammu" campaign in collaboration with the government. The drive, which focuses on cleanliness and greening efforts, saw the planting of 108 trees in a special ceremony that honored mothers, titled "Ek Podha Maa Ke Naam." The plantation drive was started by the Prime Minister of India under the supervision of the Forest Department.

Renowned Yog Guru, Karan Ji, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the crucial role of trees in combating global warming. He highlighted the need for collective action in preserving our environment for future generations. The event saw participation from Chief guest Sh. Kavinder Gupta, ex-Deputy Chief Minister, and Viney Gupta, ji BJP.

Sh. Ch Vikram Randhawa ex- MLC BJP Sh.Sham lal Basson ji ex corporater  ward 48 ,Bansi Lal Gupta ji ex-corporator, Retd Judge sh.Om Prakash Sharma ji also actively participated, showcasing strong support for the initiative.

Additionally, the event was supported by prominent figures such as Sharda Devi, and Prof. (Retd) Yudhvir Singh, all ex-corporators, D D Mehra, President of the Mohalla Welfare Committee JDA Colony Sheikh Nagar, and Kulvir Singh, also known as Bittu Bawa, President of Dogra Sabha Gorkh Nagar Bahu Fort Jammu.

The campaign also saw enthusiastic participation from vishwa yog sansthaan members including Sham Kalsi, Vikash Chopra, Subash Kumar ji, Suresh Sharma, Rajesh Padha, Balkar Ji, Sunny Ji, and Lila Jamwal Ji. Their presence and active involvement underscored the community’s collective commitment to environmental conservation.

The Forest Department was well-represented with Ashwani Ji, DFO Urban Forestry, Padam Sharma, RO, Nitin Charak, BO, and Suresh Lal, BO, all actively participating in the tree plantation drive. Their involvement ensured the technical and logistical success of the campaign.

The initiative by Vishwa Yog Sansthan has not only contributed to the beautification of Jammu but also raised significant awareness about environmental issues. The active participation of community leaders, political figures, and forest officials has set a positive precedent for future endeavors aimed at making Jammu cleaner and greener.
