ANANTNAG: In commemoration of World Environment Day 2025 observed every year on June 05, the Social Forestry Division (SFD) Anantnag, in collaboration with Government Higher Secondary School Khannabal, organized a vibrant painting competition to promote environmental awareness among students. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students who showcased their creativity and concern for the environment through art. The initiative aimed to instill a sense of responsibility towards nature in young minds.
Speaking on the occasion, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Social Forestry Division Anantnag, emphasized the crucial role students play in shaping a greener future. "Students are the best ambassadors for spreading awareness about the importance of a clean and sustainable environment. Their involvement ensures that the message of conservation reaches every corner of society," she said.
Teachers from the host school also addressed the gathering, appreciating the efforts of the Social Forestry Division in organizing such events that inspire environmental stewardship among youth. To encourage the budding artists, mementos and certificates of appreciation were distributed among the participants by the DFO.
The event was also attended by the concerned Range Officer, along with other officials and dignitaries. Later, a cleanliness drive and door to door campaign was also organised along the banks of River Jehlum by the SF Division Anantnag The initiative concluded with a pledge to continue working collectively towards preserving and protecting the environment for future generations.
