PULWAMA: In a significant step towards strengthening legal aid services in remote areas, the Chairman, District Legal Services Authority (Principal District & Sessions Judge), Pulwama today flagged off a newly allotted Mahindra Bolero Neo from the District Court Complex, Pulwama.

The Multi-Utility Vehicle has been allotted to DLSA Pulwama by the J&K Legal Services Authority. The allotment aims at enhancing the outreach of legal services and ensuring effective delivery of justice, particularly to tribal, marginalized and far-flung areas of the district.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chairman said that the vehicle will play a vital role in bridging the gap between Legal Services Institutions and the people residing in remote areas of District Pulwama. He stated that the vehicle will be extensively used for conducting legal awareness campaigns and participation in mega legal services camps.

Emphasizing on accountability and proper utilization, the Chairman directed that the vehicle shall be used strictly in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) issued by National Legal Services Authority. He further instructed the Secretary, DLSA Pulwama that the vehicle is utilized exclusively for public welfare and legal aid purposes.“The objective is to take justice to the doorsteps of those who need it the most. This vehicle will help our Panel Lawyers and PLVs to reach tribal communities and inform them about their rights, government welfare schemes, and free legal aid available to them,” the Chairman added.

The Judicial Officers, Secretary, DLSA Pulwama, Legal Aid Defense Counsels, Panel Lawyers, Para Legal Volunteers and staff members of DLSA were present during the flag-off ceremony. The gathering expressed gratitude to the J&K Legal Services Authority for providing the much-needed mobility support to strengthen legal aid delivery in the district.
