JAMMU: Dogri Sanstha Jammu today organised the valedictory function of its 15-day Skill Development Dogri Translation Workshop at its premises in Karan Nagar, Jammu. The workshop, designed for college students, concluded successfully after providing participants with practical training in translation, subtitling, and language skills while promoting the rich literary heritage of Dogri.

Dr. Naveen Anand, Principal, Government Degree College for Women, Parade, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Shailender Singh, (JKAS) SSP Railways attended the function as the Special Guest. The dignitaries on the dais also included Prof. Lalit Magotra, President, Dogri Sanstha Jammu; Prof. Veena Gupta, vice president Dogri SansthaJammu and Dr. Tarsem Raina.

Welcoming the guests and participants, Prof. Lalit Magotra, President, Dogri Sanstha Jammu, expressed satisfaction over the successful completion of the workshop. He appreciated the enthusiastic participation of the students and emphasized the importance of translation as a powerful medium for preserving, promoting, and disseminating Dogri language and literature across linguistic boundaries. He reiterated the Sanstha's commitment to organising such skill-oriented programmes for the younger generation.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Naveen Anand congratulated Dogri Sanstha Jammu for conducting a meaningful and professionally designed workshop. He encouraged the participants to utilise the skills acquired during the programme to contribute towards the growth of regional languages and to explore career opportunities in translation and language services.

Shailender Singh, JKAS, appreciated the efforts of Dogri Sanstha Jammu in empowering students through practical training. He highlighted the significance of language, culture, and translation in preserving the identity of the region and encouraged young learners to continue strengthening their linguistic abilities.

An engaging segment of the programme featured poetry recitations and essays presented by the participants, who shared their experiences and learning gained during the fifteen-day workshop. Their presentations reflected the confidence, creativity, and practical understanding developed through the intensive training. The workshop was conducted by a team of experienced resource persons, including Prof. Veena Gupta,  Dr. Nirmal Vinod, , Prof. Archana Kesar, Rajeshwar Singh Raju and Sunil Sharma, who imparted practical knowledge on various aspects of translation and subtitling through interactive sessions and hands-on exercises. The proceedings of the valedictory function were conducted efficiently by Susheel Begana, who ensured the smooth flow of the programme.

The programme concluded with the distribution of certificates to the participants, followed by a vote of thanks. The event reaffirmed Dogri Sanstha Jammu's continued commitment to promoting the Dogri language through quality training programmes and meaningful academic initiatives.
