JAMMU: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Jammu & Kashmir General Secretary and former Deputy Mayor Jammu, Baldev Singh Billawaria, on Tuesday inaugurated the construction work of modern "Aspirational Toilets" at Ward No. 55 along the Kunjwani National Highway in Jammu under the prestigious Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0. The project is being executed under the supervision of the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) with the objective of strengthening public sanitation infrastructure and providing world-class civic amenities to residents and commuters.
Addressing the gathering after inaugurating the work, Billawaria said the Aspirational Toilets are being developed with state-of-the-art technology and advanced facilities to ensure a clean, safe and dignified public sanitation experience. He said the initiative reflects the government's commitment to providing modern civic infrastructure while promoting cleanliness and sustainable urban development.
He informed that the upcoming facility will be equipped with automatic flushing systems, touchless wash basins, voice-guided assistance, dedicated facilities for women and infants, solar power, biodigester technology and water recycling systems. These features, he said, have been incorporated to ensure high standards of hygiene, environmental sustainability and user convenience.
"The Aspirational Toilets have been conceptualised to provide hygienic, accessible and world-class sanitation facilities in line with the vision of a cleaner and healthier India. Such modern public amenities will significantly improve the quality of civic infrastructure while ensuring comfort and convenience for citizens," Billawaria said.
Highlighting the importance of the project's location, he said the facility would prove beneficial not only for the residents of Ward No. 55 and adjoining localities but also for the thousands of commuters and travellers using the busy Kunjwani National Highway every day. The modern public toilet, he added, will offer clean, secure and well-maintained restroom facilities, making travel more comfortable and hassle-free.
Billawaria said the project reflects the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for building a clean, modern and developed India. He observed that under the Prime Minister's leadership, the country has witnessed remarkable progress in sanitation, public infrastructure and citizen-centric development. He noted that the Swachh Bharat Mission has evolved into a nationwide people's movement, creating unprecedented awareness and encouraging public participation in maintaining cleanliness across the country.
He further stated that the Central Government remains committed to strengthening sanitation infrastructure, protecting the environment and providing better civic amenities to the public. According to him, innovative facilities such as Aspirational Toilets will play a significant role in transforming urban landscapes while improving the quality of life of citizens.
Appealing to the public, Billawaria urged people to adopt cleanliness as a way of life and actively contribute towards the vision of Viksit Bharat and Atmanirbhar Bharat. He expressed confidence that with the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the active participation of citizens, India would successfully achieve its goal of becoming a developed nation.
Local residents present on the occasion welcomed the initiative and appreciated the establishment of the modern public sanitation facility. They thanked Billawaria for his continued efforts towards improving civic infrastructure and enhancing public amenities in the area.
