JAMMU: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Mahila Morcha led by its President Sanjita Dogra celebrated International Women’s Day at the BJP Headquarters, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu. The event focused on financial empowerment of women through Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s central schemes, highlighting their impact in transforming the lives of women across the country.
J&K BJP President Sat Sharma, and former Minister Priya Sethi chiefly addressed the programme. BJP Vice president and Prabhari Mahila Morcha Anuradha Charak, former Dy Mayor Purnima Sharma, State Secretary Anju Dogra, Swaran Lata (Former Minister), Reema Padha, Neha Mahajan and Anita Gandotra also spoke on the occasion.
Sat Sharma in his address highlighted the importance of women’s participation in economic activities. He reaffirmed BJP’s dedication to empowering women through various initiatives. He stressed that this celebration is not limited to honour the achievements of women but also to inspire others to become financially independent and contribute to the progress of the nation.
"An economically empowered woman is the foundation of a strong society. The Modi government is committed to providing all necessary support to ensure women’s progress. Women have the capability to lead in every sector. By availing these schemes, they can build a bright future for themselves and their families” said Sat Sharma.
Priya Sethi said that women must take full advantage of the welfare schemes initiated by the Modi government to transform their lives. Financial independence is the key to true empowerment. She added that women should take charge of their financial well-being and become job creators instead of job seekers.
Sanjita Dogra, in her welcome address, emphasized the BJP's commitment to women's empowerment. She stated, "Prime Minister Modi’s visionary initiatives have empowered women across India, making them financially independent and giving them the confidence to stand on their own feet". She added that we need to reach out to every woman and help them realize their potential through these initiatives.
Anuradha Charak, Anju Dogra, Purnima Sharma, former minister Swarn Lata also spoke on the occasion. A special session was conducted by Sandeep Jain, Ex president J& K Brahmin Jain Sabha who raised awareness about organ donation among the women present. To celebrate the spirit of womanhood, cultural performances were presented by women BJP members, showcasing traditional dances and songs that highlighted the strength and resilience of Indian women.
Women beneficiaries of various government schemes, such as Lakhpati Didi, Mudra Yojana, Jan Dhan Yojana, and PMEGP were also honoured on the occasion. These women shared their inspiring stories of financial independence and encouraged others to utilize these schemes to become self-reliant. The event was coordinated by Neha Mahajan (Incharge) and Anita Gandotra (Co-Incharge).
