KATHUA: Under the aegis of NLSA and JKLSA and also under the radiant guidance of Jatinder Singh Jamwal, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority (Pr. District & Sessions Judge, Kathua), a National Lok Adalat of the calendar year 2025 was held here today.
Five Benches were constituted for settling the cases. The Bench No. 1 comprised Jatinder Singh Jamwal, Principal District & Sessions Judge, and Pravin Pandon, Addl. District & Sessions Judge; Bench No. 2 consisted of Ajay Kumar, Chief Judicial Magistrate and Viren Magotra Munsiff/JMIC; Bench No 3 comprised Amandeep Kour, Spl. Mobile Magistrate and Neena Thakur, District Mobile Magistrate (T); Bench No. 4 included Poonam Gupta, Addl. Special Mobile Magistrate, Billawar and Prashant Kumar, Munsiff/JMIC, Billawar; Bench No.5 included Meera Bangotra, Munsiff/JMIC, Hiranagar and Ashok Kumar, Advocate; Bench No 6 consisted of Ashutosh Sharma, Munsiff/JMIC, Bani and Advocate Vijay Kumar Lalhal, while Bench No. 07 consisted of Kangna Gupta, Munsiff/JMIC, Mahanpur and Advocate Deep Kumar.
The first National Lok Adalat was organized by Secretary/Sub-Judge Kamiya Singh Andotra across the district. Different matters placed before the Benches included Hindu Marriage Act (HMA), Motor Vehicle Act, MACT Cases, Bank Recovery (both pre- litigation and post-litigation) matters, BSNL cases, Criminal Compoundable, Civil cases, 138 N.I. Act, Maintenance, Domestic Violence and Traffic Challans. In today's National Lok Adalat, Advocates, Litigants, people from various departments, senior Citizens have also participated. A total number of 636 were taken up for amicable settlement out of which 358 cases were settled and an amount of Rs 2,29,62,520 was realised as settlement amount.
