- DC seeks focus on safety, welfare of LoC Community
POONCH: Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal today chaired a meeting of the District Level Standing Committee (DLSC) on border security. The meeting discussed the measures for enhancing community welfare and safety of people in areas adjacent to the Line of Control (LoC).
Addressing critical security concerns, the DC reviewed the progress of essential measures, including the construction of bunkers for enhanced public safety. Updates from Army officials underscored ongoing efforts to maintain peace and stability in the region, reinforcing the commitment to safeguarding local communities.
The Deputy Commissioner asked law enforcement agencies, including the Police and Border Security Force (BSF), to intensify their efforts against drug trafficking and other pressing social issues. He highlighted the importance of inter-agency collaboration to tackle these challenges effectively.
Additionally, the Deputy Commissioner conveyed to the Army Officers the importance of enhancing security measures at the BG Tunnel construction site, RTS Road Parnaie Project etc to ensure the safety and efficiency of the ongoing work.
The meeting was attended by key officials including the Additional Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Additional Superintendent of Police, Assistant Commissioner Development, Chief Medical Officer, Tehsildars, Executive Engineers from PWD, Jal Shakti, JPDCL, REW, as well as representatives from the Indian Army, BSF, Police besides others.
