JAMMU: The All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference (AJKPC), an organization working for the welfare of the rural population, celebrated International Women's Day with great respect at the Community Hall, Kol Kandoli Temple, Nagrota.
The program started with prayers, creating a spiritual and peaceful atmosphere. AJKPC President Anil Sharma welcomed all the guests and participants, thanking them for being part of this special occasion. A large number of women and girls from different panchayats and villages of the Nagrota Assembly Constituency attended the event.
As a mark of deep respect, Anil Sharma and other dignitaries washed the feet of all female participants and showered flowers on them, honoring their strength and importance in society. Speaking on the occasion, Sharma said, "Every woman is a form of 'Shakti', the power of the Goddess and deserves the highest respect."
He also spoke about India’s history, where women have always been seen as powerful and respected. However, he expressed concern that in today’s world, women are often treated as a commodity, which is not right. He further said that Indian society has always supported women’s empowerment, but it is also important to follow our traditions and values.
