BARAMULLA, BUDGAM: Continuing its efforts against the menace of drug trafficking, Police have arrested 4 drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession. A Party of Police Station Kunzer, headed by SHO PS Kunzer apprehended a drug peddler at a checkpoint established at Tarhama. He has been identified as Habil Yaseen Dar son of Mohd Yaseen Dar resident of Habakadal Srinagar A/P Tarhama Kunzer.
During search, Heroin like substance, weighing about 10 grams were recovered from his possession. Similarly, a Police party of PP Palhallan at a checkpoint established at Yadipora Crossing intercepted two persons, identified as Rayees Ahmad Tantray son of Mohd Maqbool Tantray resident of Yadipora Palhallan and Danish Ahmad Dar son of Bashir Ahmad Dar resident of Takiya Tapper. During search, contraband Charas like Powder weighing about 2.9 Kgs were recovered from their possession. Both were arrested.
Meanwhile in Budgam, a Police party of PS Khansahib established a check point at village Chamboora, arrested a drug peddler identified as Tanveer Ahmad Bhat son of Abdul Rashid Bhat resident of Arigam Budgam. During search, 04 sticks of Charas like substance was recovered from his possession. Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective police stations and investigations have been initiated. J&K Police remains committed to eradicating drug abuse and trafficking in the region. Public is urged to cooperate and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
