POONCH: Deputy Commissioner Poonch Vikas Kundal reviewed the progress of the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) in the district, focusing on strategies to enhance rural income generation through Self-Help Groups (SHGs).
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner reviews blockwise physical and financial progress and in-depth discussions revolved around shaping the future action plan for Self-Help Groups (SHGs) formation, strengthening SHG-Bank linkages, promoting financial inclusion, Capacity Building Trainings and advancing various livelihood initiatives.
The meeting commenced with insightful updates from the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) representatives. It was informed that the total number of SHGs is 4377 with 31110 active members engaged with these SHGs in the district, total number of Village Organizations is 337, Total numbers of cluster-level federations is 29 showcased the extensive reach of community engagement in Poonch.
The meeting emphasised creating a robust roadmap for income generation in rural areas, particularly highlighting the importance of empowering women through Self-Help Groups and micro-credit schemes. The Lakhpati Didi initiative, identification of potential Lakhpati Didi was discussed thoroughly.
Deputy Commissioner underscored the importance of collaborative efforts among SHGs to diversify livelihood activities and improve income levels. He issued a clear directive to officers, emphasizing their role in assisting SHGs to channel their collective endeavors toward establishing thriving and successful businesses. He also directed the concerned to achieve all allotted targets before ending this month.
The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioner Development, Assistant Commissioner Panchayat, District Programme Manager NRLM, All Block Programme Managers and other concerned officers.
