JAMMU: Rahul Sahai, Chairman, Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC), Jammu Chapter, participated in an interaction with Shri Nalin Prabhat, IPS, Director General of Police, J&K, at the Model Police Station, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, on Thana Diwas. He expressed gratitude to the J&K Police Department for their commendable efforts in maintaining law and order, especially in busting recent theft and drug rackets. He also acknowledged the extraordinary leadership of the DGP in strengthening peace and security in the region.

During the interaction Sahai proposed the introduction of a Public Grievance Redressal & Feedback System, including dedicated email IDs and an online complaint portal for citizens. He also suggested that SHOs conduct regular police-public meetings in different sectors to gather real-time feedback and improve community relations. Additionally, he advocated for bi-monthly district-wise meetings with prominent citizens, industry leaders, and civil society representatives to strengthen collaboration.

Emphasising public safety measures, Sahai urged citizens to install CCTV cameras at residential and commercial properties to deter crime and assist police investigations. To streamline passport and other verification processes, Sahai suggested creating a separate verification department with online processing to ensure that police officers remain focused on law and order duties.

On behalf of ICC Jammu, Sahai proposed organising an Orientation Program on New Criminal Laws for members of civil society, industry, trade, and commerce, with the approval of the DGP. Additionally, he proposed a special event (Umang-style) to honour J&K Police personnel for their extraordinary services, requesting the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor to be the Chief Guest.
