SHOPIAN: Under the aegis of the Civic Action Programme, J&K Police in Shopian organized a Road Race from Batapora Stadium Shopian upto Arhama Mandi with the objective of promoting physical fitness, sportsmanship, healthy engagement and a drug-free lifestyle among youth.

The race was flagged off by SSP Shopian Shri Mushtaq Ahmad Choudhary-JKPS, accompanied by other senior police officers. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from local youth and sports enthusiasts, who took part in the race with great zeal, enthusiasm and sporting spirit. The programme provided participants an opportunity to showcase their endurance and athletic abilities while fostering discipline, unity, camaraderie and a spirit of healthy competition and also carried a strong message against drug abuse and substance addiction, encouraging youth to stay away from drugs and adopt healthy, productive and constructive activities.

The first, second and third position holders were felicitated with cash prizes and mementos and appreciated for their outstanding performance, determination and sporting spirit. Speaking on the occasion, SSP Shopian emphasized the importance of engaging youth in constructive activities and sports to promote a healthy lifestyle and keep them away from the menace of drugs.

Police reiterated its commitment to organizing more sports and community-oriented programmes aimed at the welfare, empowerment and positive engagement of youth, while collectively working towards making society free from the menace of drugs.
