• Says Jatt youth dedicate their lives for the defence of the country

JAMMU: President, J&K Jatt Sabha, and Former Minister, S. Manjit Singh has sought promotion of sportsmanship among the young generation to fight drug addiction and growing anti-social activities. As per the press release, a tournament was organized by the youth leader of Jatt community at village Changia in Bishnah, Tavleen Singh Bopirai where the J&K Jatt Sabha leaders also participated.

Those who attended the tournament included President of the Jatt Sabha, S. Manjit Singh; Vice President of the Sabha and MLA Vikram Randhawa; District President Jammu Urban of Jatt Sabha, Dwarka Choudhary, Ex-Sarpanch, Treva, Balbir Kour and others. Speaking on the occasion, S. Manjit Singh appreciated the organizer of the program and appreciated them for organizing such a tournament that has encouraged the youth to participate in the sports activities.

The Former Minister was the chief guest on the occasion. He said that the sports activities must be promoted to encourage sportsmanship among the youths to fight against drug addiction, and other social evils. “If the future generation is guided towards a bright future with the help of sports, civil society, involvement of parents and others,” he stated.

Meanwhile, he demanded that the Govt should focus on providing better livelihood facilities, and other reservations to the Jatt community youth for their jobs / recruitment in Govt and defence forces. “These people act as a second line of defence along the border with Pakistan while fighting equally with the Indian forces against the enemies of the country,” he added, recalling how the brave youth remain alert and keep the security forces informed about the anti-national elements.

Meanwhile, MLA and Vice President of the Sabha, Vikram Randhawa, who was the guest of honour on the occasion, said that the border belt has always remained neglected regarding sports activities. Hence, it becomes important for the Govt to provide better play grounds, and encourage sports activities in the border belt for the youth. Similarly, Dwarka Choudhary also addressed the gathering and highlighted the issues faced by the Jatts, and their role in social, economic and political development of the society in Jammu and Kashmir.
