RAJOURI: In response to rising health concerns in Panchayat Bagla, Ward Kotli Bagla of Block Qila Darhal, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma convened a review meeting today at the DC Office Complex. The meeting was attended by senior officers from Health, Government Medical College, Jal Shakti, Police and Panchayati Raj.
The meeting focused on suspected water contamination and resulting health issues in the area. A range of decisive measures were ordered to mitigate the situation and ensure the safety of the local population. Key decisions included sealing of the contaminated water Source. The general public has been advised to drink only boiled water and use ORS to stay hydrated. Citizens were urged not to panic, as the symptoms resemble seasonal diarrhea.
Affected individuals have been shifted to GMC Rajouri, where they are receiving timely treatment and are reported to be stable. The DC directed the CMO to deploy medical teams for door-to-door screening in Kotli Bagla and adjoining areas. Joint health awareness camps will be organized by the Health and Jal Shakti departments, while immediate treatment is being provided to symptomatic individuals.
The Assistant Commissioner Panchayat (ACP) has been asked to coordinate sampling by the Health Department, Jal Shakti and GMC (Department of Preventive and Social Medicine). Samples from multiple sources will be tested. The process will be supervised by the HOD, Department of PSM, GMC Rajouri.
The SE Hydraulic Rajouri has been directed to clean Bowlies across the district and ensure alternate water supply (through tankers or handpumps) in affected areas. Preparations are also being made for water safety during the upcoming monsoon season. Further, the ACP has been assigned the responsibility to coordinate all field-level actions and provide regular updates to the Deputy Commissionerâs office.
