BARAMULLA: In a significant step towards strengthening educational infrastructure in border areas, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was today formally signed for a CSR-approved project titled “50 Smart Classrooms for Government Schools in Border Villages of Uri Sub-Division.”
The project, funded under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of NHPC, entails a total financial outlay of ₹123.444 lakh, with an initial allocation of ₹50 lakh earmarked for the financial year 2025–26.
The MoU was signed by the District Development Commissioner (DDC) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa in the presence of Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Uri, Chief Planning Officer (CPO) Baramulla, GGM (HOP) and GGM (CSR) of Uri Power Station, and the Head of CSR & SD Department, Uri Power Station.
The project aims to establish 50 smart classrooms in government schools located in border villages of Uri Sub-Division, thereby enhancing digital learning facilities and improving the quality of education in these remote areas. The initiative is expected to play a pivotal role in bridging educational gaps and promoting inclusive, technology-enabled education in the border belt of Baramulla district.
