JAMMU: A deputation led by BJP District President Poonch, Gurdeep Singh Khalsa, today called on Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) in the Prime Minister’s Office, Dr. Jitendra Singh, to discuss pressing issues faced by the people of Poonch district.
During the meeting, the deputation highlighted key developmental concerns, with particular emphasis on the frequent closure of the Mughal Road due to heavy snowfall, which often cuts off Poonch town from other parts of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The road serves as a vital lifeline for the border district, and its prolonged closure causes severe hardships to residents.
Gurdeep Singh Khalsa briefed Dr. Jitendra Singh on the persistent challenges faced by the people of Poonch, especially the connectivity issues arising from the Mughal Road shutdown during winter months. He stressed the urgent need for effective and long-term solutions to ensure uninterrupted access and development of the region.
Responding to the concerns, Dr. Jitendra Singh assured full support to the people of Poonch and reaffirmed his commitment to addressing their grievances. He stated that the issues raised would be taken up with the party high command and the concerned central ministries for appropriate action.
“I stand with the people of Poonch and will personally pursue your concerns for meaningful redressal,” Dr Singh said. The meeting is being seen as a significant step towards addressing long-standing grievances of the border district and reflects the BJP’s continued focus on inclusive development and regional representation.
Those present in the deputation included District Vice-President Ravinder Kumar Bitta, General Secretary Sunil Sharma, Mehtab Bukhari, Amtirpal Singh, Jagjeet Singh and others.
