JAMMU: The Dogra Art Museum in Jammu marked Numismatics Week with a grand celebration, inviting enthusiasts to explore the rich history of currency and coinage. The museum offered two days of free entry, allowing visitors from all walks of life to immerse themselves in the fascinating world of numismatics.

A special exhibition showcasing rare and historical coins was the highlight of the event. The carefully curated display featured antique coins from various eras, shedding light on the economic and artistic heritage of the region. Expert guides provided insights into the significance of these coins, enriching the experience for attendees.

Adding to the educational value of the celebration, several schools participated, with students and faculty members exploring the exhibits and engaging in interactive sessions. The initiative aimed to spark curiosity among young minds, fostering a deeper appreciation for history and culture. The exhibition was curated by Sh. Mukul Magotra, Curator, Dogra Art Museum, Jammu.

The museum’s Numismatics Week successfully brought together students and general public, reinforcing its commitment to preserving and promoting regional heritage. Through this initiative, the Dogra Art Museum continues to serve as a hub for cultural education and historical exploration.

"We are excited to host this exhibition and welcome students and visitors from across Jammu to explore the world of numismatics," said K.K. Sidha (JKAS), Director, Archives, Archaeology and Museums, J&K. "Our goal is to promote cultural awareness and appreciation, and we believe that this exhibition will be a valuable learning experience for all."

To ensure maximum participation, the department has announced free entry to the museum on 26th and 27th of April. The Department has also organised a special exhibition of numismatic (coin) in the S.P.S. Museum, Srinagar.
