JAMMU: Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha today released the Coffee Table Book on Assembly Election Coverage by Doordarshan News Jammu. The Lieutenant Governor extended his felicitations to Regional News Unit (RNU) of Doordarshan and the editorial team on the occasion. He commended the RNU team members for their dedication and commitment to inform and educate the people of the region on the electoral process.
The publication highlights the endeavours of Regional News Unit of Doordarshan during the Assembly elections, including awareness campaigns through social media posts, signature campaigns under SVEEP (Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation), and special programs focused on electoral awareness.
Sh Vivek Pathak, Regional Head, Doordarshan News Jammu, also briefed the Lieutenant Governor about the operational achievements and initiatives of the Regional News Unit (RNU) Jammu and shared the efforts made by RNU in reaching remote, hard-to-access areas of J&K to raise awareness about the importance of voting.
Representatives of Vishwa Kashmiri Samaj led by its Convenor Er. Kiran Wattal called on Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha, today. The members of the delegation submitted a Cultural Survey Report titled “Post-Exile Culture Survey: Challenges, Aspirations and Preservation of Kashmiri Pandit Heritage”. The comprehensive report, prepared on the basis of an extensive cultural assessment and wider consultation with the stakeholders, outlines actionable recommendations and presents the crucial insights on the socio-economic, cultural and political issues concerning the community.
A delegation of District Development Council members and political leaders from Shopian called on Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha, today. The delegation submitted a memorandum of demands to the Lieutenant Governor highlighting various development issues of Shopian district. Ms Bilqees Jan, Chairperson, DDC Shopian and Sh Irfan Manhas, Vice Chairman, DDC Shopian were also present during the interaction.
Subsequently, Dr Sapna Sangra, Faculty, Department of Sociology, University of Jammu and Member, UN Women Beijing CSO Steering Committee; Sh Karunesh Gupta, Chairman, Sudesh Ramkrishan Charitable Trust and a delegation of Hindustan Scouts and Guides also called on the Lieutenant Governor.
