BARAMULLA: Aimed at promoting a drug-free society and fostering youth engagement through sports, the Sub Division Uri Open Volleyball Tournament organized under the banner of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan concluded today with a thrilling final match. The event saw HSS Bijhama (Zone Chandanwari) emerge as champions, defeating HSS Nambla (Zone Uri) in a closely contested game.
Organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, Baramulla, in collaboration with the Social Welfare Department Baramulla, the tournament aimed to channelize the energy of the youth positively while spreading awareness about the dangers of substance abuse. Speaking at the event, an Officer from the Education department applauded the efforts of officers and officials of Uri and the organizing team for successfully executing the tournament.
He emphasized the transformative role of sports in nurturing talent and building a cohesive, drug-free society. Sports not only engage our youth positively but also strengthen the message of staying away from harmful substances, he added. The tournament concluded with an award ceremony where officers presented trophies to the winners and runners-up, acknowledging their outstanding performances and encouraging continued participation in such constructive activities.
