- Reviews flood mitigation measures, ongoing projects in Ramban Town
RAMBAN: Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Mohammad Alyas Khan, along with Additional Deputy Commissioner, Varunjeet Singh Charak today conducted an extensive visit to Ramban town to assess the on-ground status of water supply restoration in areas affected by the flash floods triggered by a cloudburst in April this year. During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner directed the Executive Engineer, Jal Shakti Department to ensure the restoration of proper water supply in Ward No. 1 and other affected households in various wards within prescribed timeline.
The DC also reviewed the flood prevention and mitigation plan prepared by the executing departments to safeguard Ramban town from potential future damages. Emphasizing proactive measures, he instructed the Chief Executive Officer, Municipal Committee Ramban to immediately remove bottlenecks hindering water flow in the drainage system.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner visited Ashri Nallah to inspect the current situation and reviewed the plan for its regulation and strengthening of safety measures to protect Ramban town from further erosion and flood risks. The DC also took stock of the progress on the Multi-Storey Bus Stand project at Ramban and asked the executing agencies to accelerate the pace of work to ensure its early completion.
The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by Chief Planning Officer Dr. Shakeeb Ahmed Rather; Assistant Commissioner Revenue Shokat Hayat Mattoo; Executive Engineers of PWD and Jal Shakti; Tehsildar Ramban; CEO Municipal Committee Ramban and other concerned officers.
