JAMMU: A group of 25 youth participants from five States/UTs—Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh—is visiting Jammu as part of a five-day Border Area Youth Exchange Program (BAYEP). The program, organized by NYKS-MY Bharat under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, aims to help youth from non-border areas learn about life in border regions. The program will end on 20th January 2025.
On 17th January, the second day of the program, participants visited the Octroi Post at the Suchetgarh Border, Jammu. BSF officers guided the group to the Zero Point and explained the post’s activities and challenges. MLA R S Pura Constituency Prof. Gharu Ram Bhagat accompanied the participants, sharing details about the area’s history and the lives of villagers near the border.
The Participants then visited Barota village in Ramgarh, Samba, where they saw the Zero Point of the India-Pakistan border. BSF personnel briefed them about the post. MLA Ramgarh Constituency and Former Minister Health and Medical Education J&K Dr Devinder Kumar Manyal joined the Participants during the visit and interacted with the participants, discussing the lives of people living near the border.
The participants also visited the residential areas of Barota village, where they met villagers and learned about their daily routines and the issues they face. Sh. Prem Pal, Ex-Sarpanch of the village, welcomed the participants and shared stories of life in the border area. The participants expressed their gratitude to MY Bharat-NYKS for organizing such a meaningful program. They shared their experiences with the media, highlighting how the visit gave them a better understanding of life in border areas.
District Youth Officer Sh. Nitin and APA Anmol, MY Bharat NYK Jammu, along with Sushil Singh Charak, Founder cum Chief Functionary of the Nations Development Association (NGO), and volunteers Rahul and Rakshant, accompanied the participants and successfully managed their visit to the border areas.
