KATRA: The UGC-Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC), Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra, organised a 6-day online short-term training programme on “entrepreneurship development”. Across the nation, faculty members from various states, such as Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, Odisha, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, registered for this event on the official UGC-MMTTC portal.
During the inaugural of the programme, Dr. Pabitra K. Jena warmly welcomed the participants and emphasised the importance of entrepreneurship for educators. Dr. Vinod Singh, Co-coordinator of the Programme, introduced the participants to programme objectives and the importance of entrepreneurship to national initiatives such as Start-up India, Make in India, and Atmanirbhar Bharat. Prof. Sharada M. Potukuchi, Deputy Director, MMTTC-Centre, introduced the participants to SMVDU, Katra, and various teaching and training programs run at SMVDU.
The 6-day programme structured around various domains required for entrepreneurship, namely: business plan formulation, marketing strategies, creativity & innovation, mental well-being, business model canvas, start-up finance, legal and regulatory frameworks, institutions in promoting entrepreneurship, etc. Prof. Suparn Kumar Sharma, Director, MMTTC-SMVDU, introduced the participants to the inaugural lecture speaker, Prof. W.C. Singh, Vice Chancellor, Dhanamanjuri University (Manipur). He had also emphasised the role of entrepreneurship in achieving the goals of the National Education Policy.
Trained teachers can inculcate entrepreneurship skill to students. Prof. W.C. Singh, Vice Chancellor, Dhanamanjuri University (Manipur), in his inaugural lecture, emphasised the importance of sustainable development, self-reliance, and the role of entrepreneurship development in Vision 2047, the role of Academic institutions in entrepreneurship development. During the valedictory function a vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Pabitra K. Jena, who thanked Prof. (Dr.) Pragati Kumar, Vice Chancellor, SMVDU, for his constant support and guidance.
His encouragement and commitment have been instrumental in promoting continuous professional development and in aligning SMVDU’s academic endeavours with the national vision for education. The 6-day programme featured expert lectures, interactive sessions, and panel discussions designed for Entrepreneurship Development among participants. The initiative is yet another step by SMVDU’s MMTTC Centre towards building a robust ecosystem for teacher training and educational excellence in India. Other Members of SMVDU-MMTTC included Prof. Raghvendra K. Mishra, Prof. Ankush Anand, Dr. Sunanda, Dr. Kamaldeep, Dr. Anil K. Bhardwaj and Staff Members of the organising committee of MMTTC-SMVDU, who had assisted in the planning of the Programme.
The program featured prominent resource persons from Dhanamanjuri University, Shri Vishwakarma Skill University, Sardar Patel University, MEPSC, GNDU College, Haryana Vishwakarma Skill University, IIM Kozhikode, Institution's Innovation Council, FORE School of Management, Guru Nanak Dev University, Guru Jambheshwar University of Science & Technology, Central University of Himachal Pradesh, IIM Mumbai, Ch. Devi Lal University including Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University.
