JAMMU: One-week Faculty Development Program on Integrative Research Methods: Qualitative & Meta-Analysis and Experimental Methods organised by Department of Commerce in collaboration with SIIEDC, University of Jammu successfully concluded at the Department of Commerce, University of Jammu.  The FDP featured esteemed resource persons, Prof Tejinder Pal Singh from University Business School, Punjab University, Chandigarh, Dr. Shardul Shankar from SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Delhi-NCR Campus, Ghaziabad and Dr. Dinesh Chhabra from University of Delhi.

The FDP covered an extensive range of topics, strategically structured to provide a holistic understanding of Integrative Research Methods. The program commenced with two days dedicated to qualitative research, led by the esteemed Prof Tejinder Pal Singh. Participants were introduced to various qualitative designs, including narrative, phenomenological, ethnographic, and case study research. Prof Singh also conducted in-depth sessions on qualitative data collection techniques, sampling methods, and data analysis approaches. A significant portion of these sessions was devoted to hands-on training with ATLAS.ti, a powerful software tool for qualitative data analysis.

The subsequent two days, under the guidance of Dr. Shardul Shankar, focused on systematic literature review (SLR) and meta-analysis. Participants gained insights into the distinctions between SLR and meta-analysis, learned about effect sizes and their calculations, and explored concepts such as confidence intervals, prediction intervals, and heterogeneity in research. Dr. Shankar led exercises on fixed and random effect sizes, subgroup analysis, and meta-regression.

The fourth day also included an introduction to Meta-SEM (Structural Equation Modeling), comparing it with traditional meta-analysis and providing practical exercises to reinforce learning. The final day of the FDP, led by Dr. Dinesh Chhabra, was dedicated to experimental research in management studies. Dr. Chhabra emphasized the importance of systematic approaches, introduced participants to experimental design principles, and demonstrated various applications of experimental design in management research.

Participants from different departments and institutions namely Commerce, The Business School, Home Science, M.A.M  College and GDC Udhampur were part of this FDP. During the course of this program, participants engaged in a series of lectures, interactive discussions, hands-on exercises, and practical sessions ensuring that attendees could immediately apply their newly acquired knowledge to their ongoing research projects, in order to gain a deeper understanding of these advanced methodologies.
