KISHTWAR: Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Pankaj Kumar Sharma today inspected the Water Lifting Scheme (HRT Stage-I) at Shalimar and took a detailed review of its functioning and availability of Water in the town and its peripheral area. The HRT Stage-I Scheme and Lahalla Gravity Scheme cater to nearly 60% of the total water requirements of Kishtwar town and its peripheral areas.
During the inspection, the DC reviewed the status of water supply, assessed the functioning of pumps, and inquired about the lifting of water to the filtration plant. He directed the Executive Engineer, Jal Shakti (PHE) Kishtwar, to ensure the regularization of water supply to the town and adjoining areas at the earliest.
It is pertinent to mention that the Naigarh Water Supply Scheme, which caters to around 40% of the water supply for Kishtwar town and nearby areas, was also damaged due to flash floods caused by recent inclement weather at Head Site Naigarh and Wagam Garh Padyarna. On the directions of the Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, restoration work on the scheme is presently underway to ensure early resumption of services.
The DC was accompanied by ADC Kishtwar, Pawan Kotwal, ExEn Jal Shakti Kishtwar, Sanjeev Kumar Gupta, AEE Jal Shakti Kishtwar, besides other senior officers.
