JAMMU: An awareness Programme to promote safe and responsible road behaviour among students, faculty and staff was organized today at Government College of Education (GCOE).
The programme featured a Campus road safety signage installation drive along with a traffic sign and rules awareness programme and organized by âRoad Safety Clubâ of the college under the patronage of Principal Dr. Jyoti Parihar.
In her address, she appreciated the efforts of the Road Safety Club for taking a proactive step toward building a safer campus environment. She also encouraged students to be responsible citizens and ambassadors of road safety.
The event aimed to sensitize the campus community about the importance of adhering to traffic regulations and understanding road signs for accident-free mobility within and outside the campus. During the drive, new traffic and safety signages were installed at key points across the campus to ensure smoother movement and enhance awareness about road safety.
As part of the programme, Simranjeet Kaur, Peehu and Sana Padha students of B.Ed 3rd Semester explained various traffic signs through a powerpoint presentation, making the session both informative and interactive. The presentation also highlighted the meaning and importance of different traffic symbols and rules that ensure safety on roads.
The event was coordinated by the Convenor of Road Safety Club, Prof. Roopa Kumari. She educated the participants about various traffic rules, safety measures and the significance of road discipline. Faculty members, non-teaching staff, and a large number of students actively participated in the event. The Members of Road safety Club, Dr. Shalini Sharma, Dr. Suraj Prakash, Dr. Ambica Kumari, Dr. Shallu Jasrotia, Prof. Kiran Thapa, Ramandeep Kralia also attended the programme.
