DODA: The Agriculture Production Department, J&K, in collaboration with the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-Jammu), successfully organized a Kisan Sampark Abhiyan and Rural Credit Workshop at Gandoh- under the Competitiveness Improvement of Agriculture and Allied Sectors Project (JKCIP). The event marked the 21st and concluding workshop in the district under the Rural Credit awareness series.
Under the initiative, a total of 21 Rural Credit Workshops were hosted across six selected JKCIP blocks of the District, covering more than 104 Panchayats. The series aimed to enhance farmersâ awareness and participation in the credit-linked and developmental programmes. The concluding event witnessed the participation of the FPO Development Officer (JKCIP), Senior Scientist from KVK, representatives of agriculture & allied departments and officials from financial institutions.
Addressing the gathering, the officials highlighted the significance of JKCIP interventions, particularly credit-linked schemes designed to enhance productivity, improve livelihoods and promote competitiveness in the agriculture sector. They encouraged farmers to actively benefit from both state and centrally sponsored credit facilities, emphasizing their role in strengthening the rural economy.
The workshop featured interactive sessions on JKCIP components including FPO promotion, niche crop cultivation, horticulture development, startup support and market linkage strengthening. Bank officials also guided farmers on loan schemes, credit procedures and related benefits.
Participants were provided with informational booklets and flyers covering key schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), Kisan Credit Card (KCC), Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF), Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund (AHIDF) and the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP).
The JKCIP, jointly implemented by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the Agriculture Production Department, J&K, continues to play a transformative role in improving competitiveness, sustainability and income generation in the agriculture and allied sectors of Jammu and Kashmir.
