DODA: As part of the 150th Anniversary celebration of the National Song “Vande Mataram”, the Department of Floriculture Doda organized a series of Plantation Drives across the district under the inspiring theme “A Salute to Mother Earth.” The initiative aimed to promote environmental conservation, sustainable development and the patriotic spirit of unity and pride.

The inaugural event was held at Government High School Seri, Bhalla, where the plantation drive was launched by   DDC Chairman, Dhananter Singh Kotwal and Vice Chairperson, Sangeeta Bhagat by planting saplings in the school premises. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, teaching staff and officials of the Department of Floriculture, symbolizing a shared commitment towards protecting and nurturing the environment.

Another plantation drive was organized at Panchayat Sangoi, Bhaderwah, focusing on the plantation of Rosemary cuttings. The program received an encouraging response from local women farmers, who joined hands in developing a Rosemary nursery aimed at promoting aromatic cultivation and creating new livelihood opportunities in rural areas.

Continuing the green momentum, a Lavender plantation drive was conducted at Manwa, further highlighting Doda district’s emerging identity as the “Land of Lavender.” These initiatives reflect a broader vision of integrating environmental preservation with economic empowerment through floriculture and aromatic crop cultivation. The series of events were coordinated and supervised by Assistant Floriculture Officer, Arjun Singh Parihar.
