HANDWARA: To protect the youth from the harmful effects of drugs, J&K Police carried out wild bhung (cannabis) destruction drives at Villages Lokipora Kralgund and Talri areas of Handwara. The drives were held under the supervision of senior officers. Members of the Masjid Committee, civil society, Numberdar, Chowkidar, and other locals also joined.
Large patches of wild bhung growing in the open fields was destroyed. Community elders and civil society members assured full cooperation in future and promised to spread awareness among youth about the dangers of drug abuse. J&K Police again appealed to the public to stay alert and share any information about illegal cultivation or sale of drugs. Police said they will continue to follow a strict zero-tolerance policy to make society drug-free and healthy.
