RAMBAN: The District Administration Ramban promptly swung into action after a major portion of a protection wall along the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) collapsed at Dalwas on Friday morning, causing partial disruption to traffic movement.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Varunjeet Singh Charak, along with Tehsildar Deep Kumar, Project Director NHAI Shubham Yadav and other concerned officers, visited the site to assess the situation and monitor the ongoing restoration works being carried out by the executing agency.
A major portion of the protection wall, along with the adjoining stretch of the Sawni Panchayat link road, was damaged due to sudden erosion in the early hours of the morning. The incident led to the temporary closure of one tube of the four-lane highway, following which vehicular movement was diverted through the alternate tube to maintain traffic flow.
Under the overall supervision of Deputy Commissioner, Mohammad Alyas Khan, the District Administration coordinated closely with NHAI and traffic authorities to ensure immediate response and minimize inconvenience to commuters. Debris clearance operations have been initiated on priority basis to restore normal traffic movement at the earliest.
The ADC directed the concerned agencies to deploy adequate men and machinery at the site to prevent further damage and to ensure safety of commuters. Continuous monitoring of the ongoing restoration work is being carried for early restoration of the Sawni–Dalwas Link Road for the convenience of the local population.
