JAMMU: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Councillor, Sanjay Kumar Baru, held a detailed meeting with Executive Engineer, UEED, Ashwani Khajuria at the latter’s office in Narwal, Jammu, to discuss pressing civic issues concerning wards of Talab Tillo Area especially Ward-41 and adjoining areas.

During the interaction, Sanjay Kumar Baru highlighted several public utility issues affecting the residents. He specifically discussed the ongoing comprehensive sewage project being implemented in Ward-41 and nearby localities. He pointed out that the work under the project has remained in progress and couldn't get completed due to certain reasons and now urged the department for its immediate revival and completion within a stipulated timeframe.

Baru expressed deep concerns over the inconvenience caused to the public due to prolonged digging of roads and lanes for various projects, which has also resulted in accidents at some locations. He emphasized the need for adequate safety measures, proper barricading, and timely restoration of roads under construction to ensure public safety and convenience.

The senior BJP leader also appreciated the prompt action taken by Officers of UEED and JMC departments in cleaning the nallahs that were blocked following recent heavy rainfall, thereby preventing major waterlogging and inconvenience to public at large.

Further, he strongly advocated for the completion of the left-out portion of the nallah flowing from Akhnoor Road (Durga Nagar) towards Chaman Vihar and Kabir Colony. He suggested that the work be taken up under available schemes  AMRUT 2.0 and the Disaster Relief Fund to safeguard the area from potential natural disasters in the future. He also stressed the importance of crate work to repair and strengthen the nallah walls to prevent overflow and damage to nearby residential areas.

Sanjay Kumar Baru again requested the Executive Engineer to conduct a joint field visit to areas such as Wazir Lane, Hazuri Bagh, and adjoining localities along with concerned officials, to assess ground-level issues firsthand.

Executive Engineer Ashwani Khajuria patiently listened to the concerns raised and assured that all necessary steps would be taken by the department to address the issues and mitigate public hardships. He informed that the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the nallah has already been prepared and efforts are underway to secure financial allocations for the remaining works under various schemes and budgetary heads.
