SRINAGAR: Union Additional Secretary & Financial Advisor, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Shantmanu, has appreciated the Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), J&K for holistic transformation and streamlining of the public distribution system, through introduction of reforms and technology.
Interacting with the officers of the FCS&CA Department, J&K & FCI here today in a meeting, the Union Additional Secretary commended the efforts made by the Department to make the Public Distribution System hassle-free, convenient, credible and clean.
Earlier, Commissioner Secretary FCS&CA, Zubair Ahmad in his presentation, presented an overview of the functioning of the Department with stress on reforms and new initiatives. He informed the Additional Secretary that there are 25.11 lakh ration card holders in J&K covering 98.62 lakh beneficiaries with cent percent Aadhaar Seeding. He said the Aadhaar Seeding has facilitated removal of more than a million duplicate/bogus beneficiaries.
Commissioner Secretary said the Public Distribution System in J&K is built around a strong and widespread network of 6642 ration shops and ePoS devices have been installed in all the sale outlets across J&K and the distribution process is fully automated with Aadhaar authentication rate of 94% in transactions. He said 6377 PoS machines are working in an online mode.
He also apprisedthat eKYC of 54.46 lakh beneficiaries under NFSA and 21.27 lakh beneficiaries under NPHH has so far been completed by the Department and it is being completed in a mission mode. The Department has also taken steps for implementation of Smart PDS as per the directives of Government of India.
Regarding One Nation-One Ration Card (ONORC), Zubair said that so far 1.22 lakh, ONORC transactions were made, taking J&K to 9th position in the country. He also said that during this period nearly 34 lakh portability (Inter-District) transactions were also made in J&K.
Commissioner Secretary also highlighted various initiatives taken to transform FPSs. These include signing of MoU between the Department of FCS&CA, J&K and CSC e-Governance Services India Ltd to leverage ePoS devices to deliver CSC services and a hike in FPS Commission ordered across all the schemes and payment of commission in advance to FPS Dealers under NFSA, pending release of funds for this purpose by the Department of Food & Public Distribution, Government of India. Some pending issues requiring intervention of the Union Ministry were also flagged by the Commissioner Secretary.
Union Additional Secretary also took review of the working of the Food Corporation of India in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. A detailed presentation was made in this regard by the General Manager, Food Corporation of India, informing the participants about various efforts of FCI in ensuring a smooth PDS in J&K and Ladakh.
Shantmanu asked the officers of the Department of FCS&CA, J&K and FCI to coordinate closely and ensure a hassle free PDS. He also assured of all possible help on the requests made by the Commissioner Secretary, FCS&CA, J&K, which require intervention of the Union Ministry for a resolution.
The meeting was attended by Abdul Rashid War, Director, FCS&CA, Kashmir, Chatru Naik, General Manager, FCI, S. K Das, General Manager, FCI, and other officers of the Department of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs and Food Corporation of India.
SAMBA: Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) today conducted a first of its kind sensitization workshop under J&K Startup Policy-2024-27 for the officials of various line departments of district Samba. The workshop was aimed at enhancing government officials’ understanding of the Startup Policy including the benefits under Startup JK and Startup India schemes.
The officials were also sensitized on procurement of products and services from startups and organizing hackathons cum challenges to solve problems faced by the departments by seeking solutions from the startups.
The workshop, held at the Conference Hall DC Complex, Samba saw participation from officials of various departments to explore and understand the dynamic world of startups and its impact on regional economic development. The event featured a series of presentations and interactive sessions led by officials of JKEDI. The discussions focused on key aspects of the startup ecosystem including funding opportunities, regulatory frameworks, and the role of government in fostering a supportive environment for startups.
The program was conducted under the overall supervision and direction of Rajinder Kumar Sharma, Director JKEDI. The workshop was coordinated by Vijender Singh Jamwal, District Nodal Officer, JKEDI Samba and officials from Startup JK team including Zahid Ali Dar, Sorab Mengi and Shiwani Sharma.
JAMMU: Ravinder Raina, President, J&K BJP, chaired the back-to-back meetings of senior party leaders, while General Secretary (organization) Ashok Koul, General Secretaries Sunil Sharma & Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal, DDC Chairperson Bharat Bhushan, and senior leader Munish Sharma addressed the meetings at party headquarters, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu.
BJP State Office Bearers, district Prabharis, District Presidents, Assembly Constituency Incharges, and other senior leaders attended the meeting. Ravinder Raina, while addressing the meeting, congratulated the party workers of RS Pura and adjoining areas for a massive rally conducted to commemorate the 05th of August, the day, when controversial Article 370 was abrogated, advancing Jammu & Kashmir on the path of development.
Raina said that the BJP under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi has advanced the Jammu & Kashmir on the path of development, infrastructure build-up, technical advancements and opened up the avenues for the socio-economic development of J&K residents. He especially focused on the justice delivered by the Modi government to prominent sections of society like WPRs, PoJK Displaced, Gujjar-Bakerwals, Valmikis, women, youth etc and said that the people are ready to vote for BJP in the upcoming Assembly elections for the unprecedented development.
Ravinder Raina asked the party leaders to participate along with their supporters and common masses in the flag-hoisting functions to be organized by the administration along with their own ceremonies. He also asked them to prompt the common masses to participate in such programmes in their vicinity as well the programmes on the mass level. He prompted the party leaders to post ‘Selfie with the Tiranga’.
Ravinder Raina, during the meeting, announced the Assembly Election Incharges for various Assembly constituencies for the upcoming elections and asked them to ensure the activation of booth-level workers and the conduct of all party programmes at the ground level with the participation of local people. He also shared that the party will open its Assembly elections offices in all the Assembly segments very soon.
Ashok Koul, in his address, shared the extensive details of forthcoming party programmes. He shared that for the BJP, ‘Nation’ is always first and the party is undertaking ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ Abhiyan on the ground level on the call of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Koul said that the party will make every effort that our pride “Tiranga’ hoists on every rooftop. He shared that the party has made a state-level committee headed by its senior leader Munish Sharma, and Veenu Khanna, party Secretary, Ankit Gupta, Social Media Incharge, Reem Padha, Mahila Morcha General Secretary, Mudassir Wani as its members. He shared that the party will undertake Assembly wise ‘Tiranga Rallies’ to be led by Yuva Morcha, will conduct programmes on Martyr's Memorials, and a silent foot march to remember the lakhs of sufferers and the tragedy of partition of India in 1947. Munish Sharma threadbare discussed the roadmap to the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ Abhiyan with the party leaders.

JAMMU: The Jammu and Kashmir Real Estate Regulatory Authority (JKRERA) conducted a comprehensive inspection of plotted colonies in Sehora village of Jammu West area and sought a detailed factual report along with the revenue record from the concerned Tehsildar.
The inspection was aimed to verify whether the promoters/ developers of the plotted colonies had registered their projects with RERA, as mandated by Section 3 of the Act. The team comprising of Chief Revenue Officer JKRERA, Sunil Gupta, Naib Tehsildar JKRERA Gias-ul-Din and JEs, Amit Verma and Sumit Sharma, also checked for any unauthorized constructions or deviations from approved plans and directed the developers to register their projects with RERA.
Satish Chandra, Chairperson JKRERA said that numerous colonies are sprouting up haphazardly without the requisite approvals from the competent authorities and most of these unauthorized colonies lack basic amenities like roads, electricity and water supply posing a significant threat to planned development.
In order to prevent this and for development of colonies in a planned manner, registration with JKRERA is mandatory, he added. “We urge developers and promoters to adhere to the regulatory framework and obtain necessary approvals before commencing projects, “he said, adding that JKRERA is committed to ensuring planned development and protecting the interests of homebuyers.
He said that non –registration of the project with JKRERA would invite penalty which may extend up to ten percent of the estimated cost of the real estate project and if the promoter or builder continues to violate the provisions of the Act and does not register the project with RERA, he would be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend up to three years or with fine which may extend up to a further ten percent of the estimated cost of the real estate project, or with both.
