JAMMU: Additional Deputy Commissioner, Ansuya Jamwal today chaired a meeting at the district headquarters to review and finalise preparedness for the upcoming Navratras Festival, Mela Bahu Fort and Ramnavami celebrations in the district.

The meeting involved a comprehensive review of arrangements, including security, traffic, sanitation, medical, power, water supply, tourism and fire safety at major shrines such as the Bahu Fort Temple, Ranbireshwar Temple, Raghunath Ji Temple, Kol Kandoli Temple in Nagrota and others.

To ensure a comfortable experience for devotees, the ADC issued strict directives regarding basic amenities. The Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) was tasked with maintaining cleanliness, installing water tanks at designated spots and conducting night cleaning drives prior to the festival's commencement.

Similarly, the Jal Shakti Department will keep standby water tankers stationed at places of worship throughout the festivities. For power and lighting, the JPDCL was instructed to guarantee an uninterrupted power supply, ensure the prompt repair and proper functioning of street lights and maintain adequate illumination at Bahu Fort and along all festival routes.

Furthermore, the Chief Medical Officer was directed to provide round-the-clock medical facilities at Bahu Fort including the 24x7 deployment of dedicated ambulances. The Police Department is set to provide robust security, which will include the installation of metal detector gates at all major temple entrances. To manage the high influx of devotees, the Traffic Police will regulate smooth vehicular movement from Bikram Chowk to Bahu Fort, supported by additional deployed personnel and extra parking facilities.

Additionally, the continuous and proper operation of e-buses will be ensured to facilitate easy transport for visitors. To streamline administration and monitoring, Nodal Officers have been nominated for their respective jurisdictions. A Joint Control Room involving the Police, JPDCL, PHE and JMC will be established at the Bahu Fort Police Post to ensure seamless inter-departmental coordination. Special Joint Flying Squads will also be formed to check product quality and prevent the overcharging of visitors. The meeting was attended by SP Jammu South Ajay Sharma, ACG Sania Haq Khan, representatives of various religious bodies and other concerned district officers.
