REASI: Under the visionary leadership of Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Reasi Khalil Choudhary (also Pr. District and Sessions Judge) and the able guidance of Secretary Pooja Gupta, awareness programmes to promote NALSA Schemes 2024 and NALSA helpline Number 15100, besides generate public awareness about "Prohibition of Child Marriage" was organised today by the Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) at Mahore Court Complex and Dewal Mahore.

The participants were sensitized to the provisions of the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act and the importance of ensuring proper age and consent before marriage. The PLVs also informed the participants about the government assistance schemes available for the welfare and protection of women, children and other vulnerable sections of society.

Further, the participants were made aware about the NALSA Helpline Numbers, through which citizens can seek legal advice and assistance in case of any legal issues or violations of their rights. Another awareness programme was organized by the Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) of TLSC Katra at Panchayat Akhli to generate public awareness regarding the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1985.

The PLVs sensitized the residents about the legal consequences of demanding Dowry as enshrined in Dowry Prohibition Act, 1985. “Demanding or giving dowry is a punishable offence and the public shall stand against this social evil,” the speakers stressed. The participants were also informed about the free legal aid services provided by the Legal Services Authorities for the needy and marginalized sections of society. The PLVs further urged the community members to report cases of dowry harassment and seek assistance from the Legal Services Authority whenever required.
