• DC assess progress of work on ongoing WSSs, sanitation works

DODA: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Doda, Krishan Lal today reviewed the progress and implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) and Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) initiatives in the district here at a meeting of the District Water and Sanitation Mission (DWSM) held in his office chamber.

The meeting was attended by ADDC Roshan Lal; Superintending Engineer Hydraulic Circle Doda (Member Secretary); ACD Din Mohammad Afaqi; CPO Manesh Kumar Manhas; Divisional Forest Officer Doda; Chief Medical Officer Dr. Tanvir Ahmed; District Social Welfare Officer Zubair Ahmed; Executive Engineers from PHE Divisions, besides Executive Engineer Jal Shakti (Mechanical) Division Khellani.

At the outset, a detailed PPT presentation was given by the Jal Shakti Department highlighting the physical progress. The DDC directed the concerned officers to expedite pending works, ensure adequate availability of GI pipes and focus on completing important water supply schemes on priority. The status of Har Ghar Jal certification was also reviewed. It was informed that around 73.80 percent certification has been achieved so far. 

The DDC directed the department to expedite the progress. He further called for distribution of water testing kits and ensuring supply of safe potable water to households. He also directed the officers to identify areas facing water scarcity and adopt practical measures to resolve the problem.

The meeting also discussed the action plan for Jal Mahotsav, Jal Arpan Diwas and other water awareness programmes to be organized in the district. The DDC directed the Jal Shakti Department to start geo-tagging of water resources, identify natural water sources and formulate a strategy for water conservation and recharge through plantation and resource management.   

Reviewing the implementation of Swachh Bharat Mission, the DDC emphasized strengthening sanitation facilities, maintaining cleanliness and promoting public awareness regarding hygiene and waste management. It was further informed that construction of around 160 soak pits have been completed in the district.
