JAMMU: The hunger strike of the All Jammu & Kashmir Panchayat Conference (AJKPC) in Nagrota Assembly Constituency completed 48 hours today and entered its third day. The protest is being led by AJKPC President Anil Sharma.

The dharna, which began on Sunday, continued peacefully. People from nearby areas kept coming to the site to show their support. The protest is centred around long pending local issues such as Sub Division status for Nagrota with a full SDM office, Tehsil status for Jindrah and setting up of a Tehsil Treasury in Dansal block.

The protesters are also seeking better healthcare facilities including accident and trauma hospitals in the constituency. They have demanded a new building for Government Degree College Jindrah, an ACB probe into the damaged college building and filling of vacant teaching posts in schools and colleges of the area.

Anil Sharma said the hunger strike will continue for the remaining period of 72 hours. He warned that if no action is taken by the authorities, the agitation will be escalated in the coming days.
