BASOHLI: A meeting led by former Deputy Mayor of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Baldev Singh Billawaria was held in Basohli under Kathua district regarding One Nation One Election campaign. Where efforts are being made to connect people with this campaign. Presidents of Basohli and Billawar Municipality with their teams participated in the meeting.
During the meeting, Baldev Singh Billawaria provided information to the people about the One Nation One Election campaign. He said that this is a virtuous and visionary initiative to ease out the processes and make the entire democratic process comfortable to the people with the simultaneous elections in the nation. Putting thrust on the economic aspect, he said that there will be a net GDP growth of about one and a half percent in the nation with the elections being held simultaneously. He said that the money spent on elections held in different phases in the states will be saved, which will be invested in the development of the country. He further said that crores of rupees are given as budget for holding elections repeatedly and the economic development of the state and the country slows down.
On this occasion, Basohli Municipality Chairman Sumesh Spolia, Billawar Municipality President Omkant Basotra and councilors supported the One Nation One Election campaign, saying it is in the national interest. BJP's Pahari district president Gopal Kishan also supported the campaign in this meeting. All the prominent present in the meeting unanimously adopted the resolution supporting the ‘One Nation, One Election campaign’ on the occasion.
