• Encourages departmental Officers to work with enthusiasm & dedication to enhance developmental outcomes

SRINAGAR: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat Tuesday chaired a meeting here at Meeting Hall of the DV Office Complex to review the progress of the Annual District Good Governance Index (DGGI) for 2023-24  The meeting aimed to assess the impact of various governance interventions across sectors based on predefined parameters of DGGI.

The DC held a comprehensive review, covering sector-specific performance in Agriculture, Education, Health, Rural Development, Public Infrastructure, Financial Inclusion, Judiciary & Safety and Environment. The focus was on evaluating Governance measures under the DGGI framework and analyzing indicators providing insights into current status and progress over time covering the indicators for 2023-24, crucial for the forthcoming publication of DGGI-4.0.

The DC stressed the Departments to lay special focus on further improvising performance of DGGI Indicators under Health sector viz  immunization, IMR, MMR etc and full coverage of elegible beneficiaries under different schemes of beneficiary oriented schemes under Social Welfare and ICDS.

The chair emphasized that the Good Governance Index serves as a standardized tool to assess governance status and the effectiveness of government interventions in public interest. He urged officers to analyze past indices to identify existing gaps and devise strategies to bridge them for achieving desired outcomes.

Dr. Bilal encouraged departmental officers to work with heightened enthusiasm and dedication to enhance developmental outcomes within the DGGI framework, focusing on adopting Good Governance indicators. He underscored the importance of measuring departmental performances against specific parameters, emphasizing both quantity and quality to ensure an efficient and prompt public delivery system.

The DC commended line department officers for improvements in certain indicators while noting areas requiring significant enhancement for better governance. Among others, the meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer, District Statistics & Evaluation Officer, Programme Officer ICDS, Superintending Engineer, PWD Circle South, Superintending Engineer, KPDCL Circle-I, Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Chief Education Officer, Chief Agriculture Officer, Chief Animal Husbandry Srinagar, District Sheep Husbandry officer, Assistant Director FCS&CA and other sectoral heads.
