UDHAMPUR: In a concerted effort to address the drug menace and its associated challenges in the district, Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Saloni Rai, convened a District Level Committee meeting of NCORD at the Mini Conference Hall, DC Office Complex, Udhampur. The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Joginder Singh Jasrotia, Additional SP Baljit Singh, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Anil Manhas, and other district officers from various line departments.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned departments to intensify their outreach efforts to aid in the recovery of drug-affected individuals. She emphasized the need to upscale counseling, awareness, and IEC activities across the district. The DC called for a strict enforcement drive to seize drugs and prevent youth, especially students, from falling prey to drug abuse.
She sought a detailed report from the Police Department regarding the nature of the drugs and the locations where they were seized to devise a proper strategy to track drug peddlers in the district. She directed the concerned to ensure a 100% computerized billing system in pharmacies by the next review NCORD meeting.
Additionally, the DC instructed the installation of feedback boxes in educational institutions on a priority basis and emphasized the need for regular awareness sessions to educate students about the ill effects of drugs. Officers from all line departments were urged to coordinate their efforts to contain drug peddling, break supply chains, and take stringent action against those involved in this illegal trade.
