RAJOURI: The Department of Social Welfare in collaboration with the Department of Youth Services & Sports today organized an inter-block district level Kabaddi tournament for girls under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) scheme at the Mini Sports Stadium.
The tournament was declared open by the Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Om Prakash Bhagat in presence of ADC Rajouri, Rajeev Kumar Khajuria; PO ICDS, Fareed Kohli; CPO, Maqsood Ahmed; DSWO, Abdul Raheem; DYSSO, Sukhdev Raj; ZEOs and ZPEOs.
The event brought together the talented girl players from various blocks of the district, showcasing their skills and enthusiasm for the sports. Speaking during the event, the ADC Rajouri highlighted the importance of sports in shaping the personalities and characters of youth. He emphasized that sports help to inculcate values like discipline, teamwork and fair play, which are essential for their overall development. He also underscored the significance of the BBBP scheme in promoting education and sports among girls, leading to their empowerment and a brighter future. He encouraged them to spread the message of the positive impact of sports on their lives and to promote a healthy lifestyle among their peers.
The Deputy Commissioner while speaking on the occasion, highlighted the objective of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme saying that the scheme aims to educate girl child and improve the efficacy of welfare services for them. Deputy Commissioner also highlighted the importance of sports activities in promoting healthy lifestyles and fighting drug abuse. He highlighted various schemes for women and encouraged them to avail the benefits, empowering them to become independent and self-reliant. He also quoted examples of famous women personalities, urging the girls to learn from their achievements and strive for excellence.
Furthermore, he emphasized the commitment of the Government to providing equal opportunities to women, ensuring their participation in all aspects of development. He motivated the girls to take up sports, not only for physical fitness but also for building confidence, discipline and teamwork skills.
The girl participants also shared their experiences and threw light on the BBBP scheme, discussing its impact on their lives and the importance of education and sports in their development. The tournament was organized to promote healthy competition, teamwork, and sportsmanship among the participants, while also raising awareness about the BBBP scheme.
