JAMMU: Lagan Society for Art and Culture (LSAC) organized "Geet Duggar Dharti De“ (A Dogri Sangeet Sandhya) – an event dedicated to celebrating the rich musical heritage of the Dogri language at Writer’s Club, Abhinav Theatre Complex, Jammu with great enthusiasm. Suresh Kumar Gupta (IFS), Principal Secretary to Govt. was the Chief Guest, Padmashri Dr. S. P. Varma was the Guest of Honour, Chander Mohan Gupta (Ex- Mayor, JMC) was the Special Guest and Sohail Kazmi (Sr. Journalist and Social Activist) was presided over the function.
The Dogri Sangeet Sandhya was inaugurated with the lightening of traditional lamp by the dignitaries followed by welcome address by Patron of LSAC, Adv. Sandeep Gupta. Later the function was started with a melodious Bhajan. Various Dogri songs were performed by the talented students of Lagan Society for Art and Culture which was much appreciated by the audience as well as the guests of the function.
The Chief Guest, Suresh Kumar Gupta (IFS) expressed his appreciation for the efforts to preserve and promote Dogri culture through such artistic endeavor. Padma Shri Dr. S. P. Varma acknowledged the importance of cultural event in fostering regional identity and pride.
Chander Mohan Gupta (Ex- Mayor) appreciated the efforts of the Lagan Society and also said that these type of functions helps to encourage the youngsters and also helps to promote the rich cultural heritage of the society. Sohail Kazmi said that Music is not only an activity, this is also a worship of god and helps to develop overall personality of the humane.
In the end, President, Rajesh Kumar thanked all the dignitaries and the audience who gave their valuable time in making this event a huge success. On the occasion, the participants were Lagan Verma, Parmita Sharma, Aditya Sharma, Shingarika Malhotra, Sarthak Verma, Ram Bakshi, Parvinder Singh, Hinaya Kotwal, Kritika Chowdhery and Akash Sarmal.
