NOWSHERA: To provide benefits to Divyangs (persons with disabilities), the Social Welfare Department Nowshera, in collaboration with the Health Department Nowshera, organized an assessment camp today at the Sub District Hospital Nowshera. The camp was inaugurated by prominent social activist Sh. Vinod Sharma, Vice President of the Jammu and Kashmir Handicapped Association Rajouri.
The event was held under the overall guidance of Deputy Commissioner Om Parkash Bhagat, with supervision from Additional Deputy Commissioner, Nowshera Babu Ram Tandon, Tehsil Social Welfare Officer (TSWO) Khalil Ahmed, and Block Medical Officer (BMO) Nowshera Dr. Iqbal Malik.
During the assessment camp, differently abled persons were informed about various welfare schemes run by different departments for their benefit. Additionally, the Health Department conducted free medical check-ups and distributed free medicines, as stated by BMO Nowshera.
Assessments of around 185 persons were conducted by ALIMCO. Approximately 141 persons were identified as specially abled and will be provided with assistive devices free of cost in the near future. This initiative highlights the commitment of the district administration to enhance the quality of life for Divyangs by ensuring they receive necessary support and resources
