SRINAGAR: In a poignant tribute to the valour and sacrifice of heroes who sacrificed their lives during the Kargil War, Indian Army has embarked a pan India D-5 Motorcycle Expedition to commemorate 25th Anniversary of Indian victory over Pakistan in the Kargil war of 1999. The expedition reached BB Cantonment, Srinagar on 06 Jul 2024 and was today flagged off for onward journey.
The pan India expedition has covered 10,000 km on five different routes commencing from Dhanushkodi, Dwarka, Dinjan, Delhi and converging at Drass. The rally aims to pay homage to Indian army braves, who brought victory during the Kargil war 25 years ago. Riding with a sense of purpose, the motorcycle rally will move through challenging terrain, echoing the sprit and determination displayed by Indian army in the battlefield.
The expedition is organised by the Artillery Directorate. Regiment of Artillery played a pivotal role during the Kargil war by providing accurate and effective fire power. The expedition comprising of five officers, four JCOs & seventeen soldiers including women riders from Corps of Military Police were flagged off from National War Memorial, New Delhi on 26th Jun for the final phase of the expedition moving on Northern route A – via Delhi- Srinagar and culminating at Kargil War Memorial, Drass. D-5 motorcycle expedition reached Srinagar on 06th July and was flagged off from Srinagar by Maj Gen PBS Lamba, GOC 31 Sub Area on 8th July 2024, after paying tributes to fallen Braveheart’s at Chinar war memorial.
Before reaching Srinagar D-5 expedition had an interaction with the young students of Army Goodwill school, Wazur on 6th July 2024, with the aim to bring awareness to the young minds about the supreme sacrifice made by bravehearts of Indian Army during the Kargil war.
