KUPWARA: On the instructions of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan, the Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Kupwara, Gulzar Ahmed Bhat today chaired the District Cooperative Development Committee (DCDC) meeting at the Mini-meeting Hall Kupwara to review the Cooperative sector in the district.
During the meeting, Deputy Registrar Cooperatives, Kupwara, Adnan Nazir informed the chair that the department has taken several initiatives to strengthen the cooperative movement in the district. He gave an overview of the present status of cooperative societies in the district through a detailed PowerPoint presentation.
It was revealed that there are 22 Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACS), 5 cooperative marketing societies, 5 sale and service societies, 5 poultry cooperative societies, 5 dairy cooperatives, 4 tribal sale and service societies, 1 FPO in the district. The meeting focused on the implementation of various schemes designed to bolster the cooperative sector and empower local communities.
The ADDC urged the allied departments to work towards the objective of strengthening the cooperative movement in the district and deepening its reach to the grassroots level. He emphasized the importance of strengthening the cooperative ecosystem and assured unwavering support from the District Administration to achieve the outlined targets. The meeting was attended by DDM NABARD, LDM, Poultry development officer, Kupwara, AD Handicrafts & Handloom and other concerned.
